In this edition of the HOPEFUL COTTAGE PODCAST, we observe World Refugee Day 2018, a day set aside to remember and to consider our humanitarian actions on behalf of nearly 69.5 million refugees who have been displaced from their homelands by war, terror, natural disaster, oppression and other factors. What does the Bible tell us about “welcoming the stranger”? Available free for download on iTunes and Podbean.
TODAY’S VERSE TO PONDER: Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. — Romans 12:17 (NKJV)
In this edition of the HOPEFUL COTTAGE PODCAST, we look at the shortest verse in the Bible and consider how significant it was that it was recorded as such. Maybe as much as the verse shows us the love and compassion of Jesus Christ, in its own way the verse might reveal just how much joy and laughter the Savior carried and shared with others during His time here on earth. Podcast available for download free on iTunes and Podbean.
TODAY’S VERSE TO PONDER: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. — Ephesians 5:11 (NKJV)
In this edition of the HOPEFUL COTTAGE PODCAST, which is available free for download on iTunes and Podbean, we explore the truth that social media can be a great thing, but it can be a breeding ground for toxicity and negativity. It’s perfectly in keeping with Christian compassion and love of others to detox and clean house when you see things on social media that simply are not God-honoring.
TODAY’S VERSE TO PONDER: Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path. — Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
In this edition of the HOPEFUL COTTAGE PODCAST, available free for download on iTunes and Podbean, we salute Dads and Bonus Dads (those who didn’t contribute DNA to a parental relationship) on this Father’s Day 2018. We also open up a new chapter of the podcast: inviting new voices into the dialogue by seeking rotating co-hosts for the podcast from pastors, worship leaders, philosophers, artists, musicians, filmmakers and others who want to discuss God’s Word and our relationship with God.
TODAY’S VERSE TO PONDER: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. — Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)
In today’s special edition of the HOPEFUL COTTAGE podcast, on a day when another high-profile suicide grabs the headlines as millions more anguish in isolation and loneliness, we examine some practical and spiritual approaches that we, as Christ followers, might take to care for those in our lives who are hurting and broken who might be at risk of taking their own lives.
TODAY’S VERSE TO PONDER: And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ — Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV)
The first major outreach project for HOPEFUL COTTAGE MEDIA is underway!
Describe in an essay of 100 words or less why HOPEFUL COTTAGE MEDIA should volunteer to produce ONE VIDEO PROJECT for your small Christ-following church or small faith-based non-profit organization. Each month through December 2018, we will choose three faith-based volunteer projects, then travel to your church and your community to film a custom video (up to 10 minutes in length) based on your concept essay for use on social media, in your church service or for marketing your non-profit. We also will volunteer our time and skills to produce ONE VOICE-OVER PROJECT up to five minutes long.
Complete your Request for Volunteer Services under the CONTACT US/PRAYER REQUEST button above by July 1, 2018. We desire to volunteer at small Christ-following churches (less than 200 members) and small faith-based non-profit organizations (annual budgets less than $100,000) in South Carolina. Submissions will be reviewed on originality of concept, demonstration of need, and of course, creative writing.
TODAY’S VERSE TO PONDER: But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law because these are unprofitable and useless. — Titus 3:9 (NIV)
In this edition of the HOPEFUL COTTAGE PODCAST, we explore the question: are the various rites and rituals and traditions that divide the almost 40,000 Christian denominations around the globe more important than God’s instructions to love Him and love others? Feel free to download and share on iTunes and Podbean.
